Mr. Bruce Gissing, Executive VP-Operations, Boeing Commercial Airplanes (retired)
Bruce Gissing retired from The Boeing Company on June 30, 1994 as Executive Vice President-Operations, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group and Chairman, Boeing Canada. Gissing served as Executive-Vice President from March 1990 and was a Senior Vice President from August 1988.
Gissing joined the Boeing Company in 1966. During his career in the Boeing Commercial Airplane Group he held virtually every position of responsibility in the commercial airplane operations. He served as Vice President-General Manager, Renton Division, which builds the 737s and 757s; Vice-President -General Manager of the Materiel Division; and Vice-President- General Manager of the Everett Division, which builds the 747s and 767s. In addition, he was Vice-President General Manager, Boeing Engineering Company.
Prior to being appointed as a Vice President Gissing served as Director of Materiel, 747 Division; Director of 767 Joint Ventures; Director of 767 Materiel and Program Participants; Director of Operations, 747 Division; and Director of Operations, 747/767 Division.
Although retired Gissing lectures at the University of Arizona and is a member of the National Board of Advisors of the Eller College-University of Arizona. In addition he is a member of the Board of Advisors of the University’s MIS Department.
Gissing was, from 1995-1997, a Senior Associate of The Oliver Wight Companies and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bourton Group from 1998 until 2001 when the company was merged with the Kaufman Consulting Group. From 1995-2004 Gissing was a member of the Board of Directors of Empire Aero Center, a subsidiary of Israel Aircraft Industries Ltd (IAI) in the US and a consultant and advisor to IAI in Israel.
A native of New York City, he earned a degree in Business Administration from the Baruch School, City University of New York in 1953 and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Denver 1963.
Gissing and his wife Edythe, have homes in Bellevue, Washington, Tucson, Arizona and Prescott, Arizona. They have four married children and eleven grandchildren.
